About our UV air purifiers

VirusStopTech has designed and produced several different UV air purifiers. Each one has its own unique benefits, but all have a core purpose: to create and maintain clean, healthy air in residential and commercial spaces. The disinfection is carried out using a combination of measures to ensure complete sterilization of the air in any given space.

Our UV air purifiers have two main purposes:

  1. To eliminate, inhibit, and deter non-biological pathogenic agents including viruses and prions (a type of protein that causes fatal brain diseases)
  2. To destroy, inhibit, and deter biological pathogens of infectious or parasitic diseases including bacteria and multicellular parasites

Our UV air purifiers are safe and effective for use in

  • Classrooms, gyms, cafeterias, and movie theaters
  • Vehicles, including public transport
  • Waiting rooms, including in airports and train stations
  • Larger areas such as factories and malls
  • Any other room used for a large and long-term assembly of people

We offer different types of air disinfection devices; they can be used individually or in conjunction with one another.

Wall- or Ceiling-Mounted UV Air Purifiers

We currently offer the Virus Shield 120° - 2000. This is an ultraviolet bactericidal irradiator-recirculator with a 2000-cu ft/hr air capacity and 120° air flow angle. It is designed to be mounted on the wall or ceiling to effectively disinfect the air without taking up floor space. Models with other air capacities are coming soon.

Free-Standing UV Air Purifiers

We currently offer the Virus Shield 260° - 5000. This is an ultraviolet bactericidal irradiator-recirculator with a 5000-cu ft/hr air capacity and 260° air flow angle. It is designed to be free-standing in the room for versatile, portable air disinfection. Models with other air capacities are coming soon.

The Components of Our UV Air Purifiers and What They Do

In their most basic form, our devices consist of a powerful air disinfection chamber along with a pressure fan and a system for supplying, directing, and concentrating the air flow. Our devices are made up of the following elements and components:

  • A fan coil used as an air recirculator
  • An air inlet of the recirculator, made in the form of a slotted deflector (a set of blinds installed in parallel with a gap of 1-20 mm) to deflect light, ensuring only horizontal propagation of UV rays
  • A disinfection unit pumped through an air recirculator, which sterilizes and disinfects using mechanical, physical, chemical, and combined air disinfection
  • Air supply fixtures that create positive pressure zones, air barriers, and efficient indoor air recirculation

Our devices can also be equipped with a wide range of additional modules, including

A specialized sterilization module for room surfaces

  •  A module for disinfection of the lower part of the room (areas inaccessible to the surface sterilizer)
  •  A module for disinfection of the upper part of the room
  •  A module for an additional filter or disinfectant
  •  A transport module to turn the entire complex into a single mobile device

What Makes Our UV Air Purifiers Unique?

Simply put, they are multifunctional and therefore multibeneficial. Our devices offer multiple options for installation (wall, ceiling, floor). They perform high-speed disinfection of indoor air, providing biological protection against viruses and bacteria. They sterilize the upper and lower areas of a room, including underneath equipment and furniture. They also serve as a pest repellent.

Our devices treat the air of an occupied room in the following sequence:

  • Air is fed through the irradiation zone with UV lamps and through the internal disinfection chamber (if a UV irradiating chamber is used)
  • Then, the purified and disinfected air is supplied to the room to prevent infection

With such functionality, our devices may seem similar to closed-type UV air recirculators. But there is a major difference: the size and volume of the working chamber. The chamber dictates the area of exposure to be treated. Our devices are unique in that they have a dimensionless working chamber, so they’re only limited by the size of the room. Other devices have irradiation chambers with dimensions that dictate the efficiency of air recirculation and disinfection.

The main characteristics of a UV air recirculator are dictated not only by the dimensions of the disinfection chamber, but also by the amount of time ambient air spends within it. This affects the volume of air that can be pumped, as well as the effectiveness of sterilization.

In contrast to other air treatments, our devices begin disinfection and pest control outside of the recirculator casing, via UV radiation. Ambient air enters as a laminar (consistent and streamlined) flow through the slotted air intake. This occurs in both the upper parts of the room (for wall- and ceiling-mounted types) and the lower parts (for free-standing types). This innovative design allows for a UV-irradiated working chamber to use the entire dedicated room as its disinfection chamber.

Who Do Our UV Air Purifiers Protect?

Our devices supply purified air in large volumes to a single person or a group of people. The currents of this supplied air create positive pressure around each person. This protects everyone whether they are healthy or sick, including single occupants (such as social workers, cashiers, or front desk personnel) to multiple occupants (such as in a classroom, conference hall, or theater, or on a bus or train).

Protection of multiple occupants

For a healthy person:

The air inhaled by this person becomes safe to breathe because the disinfected air reaches the human respiratory tract with enough speed and pressure to ensure it is inhaled. Even when ambient air has been contaminated by a sick person, the final concentration of pathogens in the air is significantly decreased. Other air recirculators lack this capability.

For a sick person:

The air inhaled by a sick person immediately enters a large stream of purified air that instantly dilutes the concentration of pathogens. Additionally, the air flow, with a reduced concentration of pathogens, returns to the zone of flows drawn into the recirculator where it is 100% disinfected.

For large rooms:

Suitable models have the added function of ultraviolet radiation on the ceiling. Air is subsequently drawn from this pre-sterilized ceiling zone.

For even larger rooms:

A cascade of devices must be organized, so that the air-flow speeds generated in the protection zone by one device do not exceed comfortable indicators. One device can provide protection within a radius of 30-50 feet.

For the workplace of a single person:

Protecting the workplace of one person

A stream of purified air is supplied to the person by a device located above them on the wall or ceiling. The descending air currents create a zone of positive pressure – like an air barrier or bubble around the person – that pathogens on the outside cannot penetrate. At the same time, the airflow speed is calibrated to ensure the person is comfortable.

Even when a sick person is within arm’s length, the contaminated exhaled air cannot reach the face of the protected person. This is due to the lower pressure and speed of the exhaled air (5 ft/s) compared to the downward air flows generated by the device (13 ft/s).

For rooms in which it is not possible to create a stable barrier around a person:

Dividing a room into clean and dirty zones

This would happen if there were additional air currents or drafts from corridors or periodically opened doors. It could also be caused by furniture or equipment around the person interfering with the integrity of the barrier or bubble.

In these cases, the zoning method is used, where enhanced air flows are not directed at a person, but instead used to divide the room into “clean” and “dirty” zones. This method is particularly useful in hospital wards, production facilities, and supermarkets.

Conclusion

Our devices are not only uniquely efficient but also versatile and multifunctional. They provide powerful, reliable protection against pathogens for even large groups of people within a wide variety of settings and room sizes.
